Supporting Lifelong Learning
Our mission and vision
Mission: The mission of the Doc Gift Fund is to continue Dennis Littky’s legacy of creating new ways of learning, pathways for personal and professional growth, and supporting educational opportunities for underserved people to thrive and make a better world.
Vision: The vision of DGF is a world where the potential of educators, entrepreneurs and students is fully realized, creativity is nurtured, wellness is prioritized, and lifelong learning is embraced.
Our Values
Lifelong Learning: We believe education is not limited to the classroom. We value continuous growth and development throughout life, whether through formal education or the experiential learning found in creative retreats, personal reflection and community building.
Thinking Differently. We believe in thinking outside the box. We value the big picture, and don’t sweat the small stuff. We believe that if you’re not on the edge, you’re taking up space.
The Magic of Nature: We believe in the importance of The Cabin and its natural environment. We value connection to quiet, open space and the earth, and what a rejuvenating factor it is to be outside in nature.
Social Entrepreneurship: We believe that investing in people, and helping them find their edge, is the best way to make an impact. We value taking risks, supporting business ideas, and providing support outside of financial resources.
Kindness: We believe in being Kind to ourselves and each other. We don’t bicker. We value and elevate underserved and disenfranchised voices.
What we do.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business.
What We Do: DGF does this through retreats at The Cabin, Doc Prizes (grants), and scholarships. DGF also supports students and organizations with expertise and technical assistance (e.g. legal, strategic, financial, and other mentorship and consultation).
The Doc Prize
The Doc Prize: DGF intends to provide grants ranging from $250 to $1,500 to individuals and nonprofits living the values and mission of DGF. Initial grants (“Doc Prizes”) will be made in 2025 with priority given to The Met, College Unbound, and Big Picture alumni. Doc Prizes may support social entrepreneurship, continuing education, and self-care. To apply, click here…
Cabin as Retreat
Cabin as a Retreat: DGF’s use of the Cabin in 2025 will be for people who are directly connected to members of the DGF Board of Directors. Space will be available upon request by the Board. Members of the Board will request use of the Cabin from the President of the Board. Guests will engage in work that aligns with mission vision values of DGF, for health and well-being, etc. To reserve a date, click here…

More about DGF: Doc Gift Fund supports opportunities that encourage the imaginative spirit in both educational and personal pursuits. We support initiatives that inspire individuals to think beyond boundaries, question the status quo, and envision new futures. Through DGF support, we strive to foster environments where individuals can explore new ideas, take risks, and enjoy meaningful pauses. We believe in giving creative minds the space and support they need to flourish, enhancing both individual well-being and community impact. DGF aims to empower individuals, especially educators, entrepreneurs and students, to unlock their full potential.
